The United States Coast Guard recently released an eerie audio recording believed to capture the acoustic signature of the Titan submersible’s implosion on June 18, 2023, during an expedition to the Titanic wreck.

Recorded by a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) passive recorder nearly 900 miles from the site, the haunting sounds are part of an ongoing investigation into OceanGate, the vessel’s operator, CNN reported.

All five passengers aboard — OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman, US businessman Hamish Harding; and French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet — were confirmed deceased following the discovery of the wreckage.

The Coast Guard, alongside the National Transportation Safety Board, conducted an extensive investigation in September for two weeks, consulting numerous witnesses and experts.

In a critical portrayal of the Washington-based company behind the ill-fated 23,000-pound submersible, had emerged during Coast Guard hearings, where it was revealed taht passengers were charged about $25,000 per dive.

The submersible lost contact with its mother ship on the morning of June 18, 2023, triggering a dramatic international search and rescue operation in the remote waters southeast of Newfoundland.

Authorities later determined that the vessel had suffered a “catastrophic implosion,” a sudden inward collapse caused by immense underwater pressure.

Near the debris on the sea floor, “presumed human remains” were recovered and subsequently matched to the five victims aboard through DNA testing, according to the Marine Board of Investigation.
