Slash pens 26th birthday wish for late stepdaughter after she died by suicide

Lucy, who Slash shares with Meegan Hodges, apparently left behind an online suicide note

Slash honored his late stepdaughter, Lucy Bleu-Knight, on what would have been her 26th birthday five months after her tragic death.

Taking to his Instagram on Friday, December 6, the Guns N’ Roses guitarist posted two touching photos alongside a tribute, writing, “Happy Birthday dearest Lucy. We celebrate today what would have been your 26th year in our hearts. We miss you so much it’s indescribable. Love you forever.”

One image showed Lucy, who was a talented makeup artist, posing with a gray cat, while the other featured her sitting beside Slash at a table.

Lucy tragically passed away on July 19 at the age of 25, with her death later ruled a suicide caused by hydrogen sulfide toxicity.

Two days after her passing, Slash and Lucy’s mother, Meegan Hodges, issued a joint statement describing Lucy as “an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.”

In a final Instagram post scheduled before her death, Lucy reflected on personal struggles, apologising for past actions and expressing hope for her soul’s growth. She concluded the apparent suicide note with, “May my soul learn to evolve from my poor job at being Lucy-Bleu. Peace.”

The tragedy has left a profound impact on her family. Meegan also paid tribute to her daughter in September during Suicide Awareness Month, urging others to prioritise mental health awareness.
