Prince Andrew reflects on skipping Christmas with King Charles

Prince Andrew’s ‘easier’ path amid Royal tensions.

Prince Andrew may find his holidays a bit less tense if he opts to skip Christmas at Sandringham this year, instead choosing to spend the festive season with his close family at Royal Lodge.

This suggestion comes amid the ongoing royal feud between the Duke of York and his brother, King Charles, over Andrew’s living arrangements.

King Charles has reportedly tried to evict his younger brother by cutting his £1 million allowance, which Andrew had been relying on since stepping back from royal duties in 2019.

According to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, it might be time for the York family to consider hosting Christmas at their 30-room home, Royal Lodge, to avoid further tension.

With the Yorks now including two sons-in-law and four grandchildren, the traditional royal holiday gatherings are becoming increasingly difficult to manage — especially when factoring in Camilla’s side of the family as well.

Andrew, who currently resides in Royal Lodge with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has a growing family to consider.

Their daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, have three children between them, with Beatrice expecting her second child.

Eugenie, who married Jack Brooksbank in 2018, has two sons, August and Ernest.

Meanwhile, Beatrice is expecting a second child with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and the couple already has a daughter, Sienna, born in 2021.

Despite the controversies swirling around his royal duties, Bond suggests that the Duke of York still holds on to the tradition of spending Christmas with the Royal Family, though the complexities of family life may make this year’s holiday celebrations more challenging than ever.
